ABOUT US
Romeo’s Rescue of Wisconsin is a local nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, fostering, and rehoming dogs, with a special focus on German Shepherds. We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring the well-being and happiness of every dog in our care. With a compassionate and holistic approach, we prioritize both the physical and emotional comfort of our dogs. Through a combination of training, socialization, and medical care, we prepare each dog for their forever home. We take pride in the positive impact we make on the lives of the dogs we rescue and the families who adopt them.
OUR BOARD MEMBERS
Our board members are a group of wonderful women who share a deep love for dogs, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their dedication and positive impact on Romeo’s Rescue. Their passion, guidance, and care help us continue our mission to save, foster, and rehome dogs in need.
Melissa, President of Romeo's Rescue – I have grown up with German Shepherds since my youth, and through the years I’ve gained extensive hands-on experience with this incredible breed. I’ve learned that no two German Shepherds are ever the same — each one has their own personality, quirks, strengths, and individual needs. Because of that, I believe it’s essential to focus on each dog as an individual and give them the care, patience, and understanding they deserve. My experience spans every stage of life, from energetic puppies to senior dogs. My oldest, Romeo, lived to be 12 years old, and caring for him — taught me the importance of lifelong commitment, compassion, and advocacy for our animals. Every dog is valuable, worthy, and deserving of a safe, loving, and stable home. Supporting dogs in need is not just something I do — it’s my mission. I am dedicated to being there for these animals, meeting them where they are, and helping them heal, grow, and thrive. My goal is to help as many dogs as we possibly can, while ensuring each one is treated with respect, love, and individualized care.
Katie, Treasurer of Romeo's Rescue – Driven by a deep love for all dogs, she has a special place in her heart for senior dogs and highly anxious dogs who need extra patience, understanding, and unconditional love. She believes every dog deserves to feel safe, valued, and cherished—no matter their age or past. With hands-on experience caring for both a playful 1-year-old dog and a beloved 13-year-old senior, she understands the unique needs of dogs at every stage of life and is dedicated to giving each one the compassion and care they deserve
Jen, Secretary of Romeo's Rescue – As the owner of a German Shepherd mix rescue, she has extensive hands-on experience with dogs of many backgrounds and personalities. Having owned many dogs over the years, Jen has a full understanding of what is involved when taking placement of a rescue—the ups, the downs, and everything in between—and how to create a forever home for our most special four-legged family members.
Together, we bring experience, compassion, and a shared commitment to the well-being of every dog in our care.
